MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday denied that Chairman George Erwin Garcia owns a Facebook account.
"Currently, Comelec Chairman George Garcia has no Facebook account," the poll body said in a post on X, adding that all official announcements of Garcia are posted on the same social media account.
This came after reports of a fake Facebook account of the poll body chief, which currently has 24 followers.
The Comelec, meanwhile, clarified it has "not received any information" on whether the account had been used for scams or other illegal activities. (PNA)
