MANILA – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Women's Center (TWC) recently received a platinum award or the highest level of accreditation award from the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC).

According to the APACC website, one of its functions is to conduct accreditation and certify the corresponding accreditation status earned among technical vocational education and training (TVET) institutions in Asia and the Pacific region.

APACC visited the TWC in October to evaluate the latter's compliance with the criteria on governance and management; teaching and learning; human resources; research and development; image and sustainability; other resources; and support to students.

"TESDA's vision has always been to empower individuals through quality technical education and skills training, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed in the rapidly evolving landscape of the global economy. This award reaffirms our dedication to this vision and motivates us to reach even greater heights in the service of our fellow Filipinos,” TESDA Secretary Suharto Mangudadatu was quoted in a news release on Monday.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Colombo Plan Staff College in Pasig City for providing training to TESDA employees, helping them develop their human resource competencies on planning, administration and supervision of technical education and skills development.

TESDA said the APACC previously awarded TWC with Silver in 2008 and Gold in 2018.

The Platinum award was handed out on Dec. 4.

"The TWC was established through a grant aid from the Japanese government’s Japan International Cooperation Agency, and since its inauguration in 1998, the institution has made significant strides in various areas," it said. (PNA)
