MANILA – Several parts of the country, particularly in Luzon, will experience some rain showers due to the shear line and the northeast monsoon or "amihan" affecting the island, the weather bureau said Monday.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the shear line and the easterlies are forecast over the Bicol Region and the provinces of Quezon, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas may result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. bulletin.

The rest of Luzon will experience isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon.

PAGASA projects isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms to prevail over the rest of the archipelago.

Severe thunderstorms could also result in flash floods or landslides, it added.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail across Luzon.

The Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
