COTABATO CITY – Police authorities are following up on a lead that would help identify the gunmen who shot and killed an employee of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) government on Tuesday night.

Col. Querubin Manalang Jr., city police director, said investigators are gathering more information, especially security camera footage, near the spot where Sulaiman Macabangon, of Maguindanao del Sur’s Datu Odin Sinsuat town, was gunned down at 6:30 p.m.

“Two men riding tandem on a motorbike shot Macabangon at close range,” Manalang told reporters here in an interview on Wednesday.

Macabangon, 50, worked as a political affairs officer at the office of Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) parliament member Datu Romeo Sema. He was in the driver seat of a family-owned car parked along Gov. Gutierrez Avenue waiting for his wife to come out from a mall when attacked.

Police officers rushed him to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police found empty shells for a 9mm pistol at the crime scene.

Manalang also called on the public to provide information about the perpetrators. (PNA)
