MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his successful reelection bid.

In his official X (Twitter) account, Marcos expressed optimism about the future of the bilateral relations between the Philippines and India following Modi’s reelection.

“My warmest congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi for securing a fresh mandate from the Indian electorate,” Marcos said.

“The last decade has shown India as a sincere friend to the Philippines and I look forward to the further strengthening of our bilateral and regional partnership in the years ahead,” he added.

Modi is the first Indian prime minister in 60 years to secure a third consecutive term.

Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and India span over 70 years since it was formalized in 1949. (PNA)
