Northern Samar team joins Asia’s process, packaging fair

TACLOBAN CITY – A team from Northern Samar has joined the ProPak Asia 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand, Asia's biggest trade fair for process and packaging technology as part of the local government's effort to improve the output of small and medium enterprises in the province.

In a statement Thursday, the Northern Samar Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (PEDIPO) said the involvement of the provincial government in this event presents a valuable opportunity for local producers to enhance their capabilities, expand their networks, and remain abreast of the latest advancements in processing and packaging technologies.

The team led by the Department of Trade and Industry - Northern Samar is currently taking part in various engaging activities during the event from June 12 to 15, such as the ProPak Gourmet workshop, Future Food Corner, Lab & Test Theater, Packaging Design Clinic, and a display of exceptional designs from WorldStar, AsiaStar, and ThaiStar.

“These initiatives are designed to spark creativity, nurture collaboration, and celebrate excellence within the industry,” the provincial government stated.

The local government’s investment office said ProPak Asia 2024 consists of eight specialized zones covering a wide spectrum of the industry – Processing Tech Asia, Packaging Tech Asia, Drink Tech Asia, Pharma Tech Asia, Lab & Test Asia, Packaging Solution Asia, Coding, Marking & Labelling Asia, and Cold Chain, Logistics, Warehousing & Factory Asia.

“These zones provide a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in processing and packaging technologies, granting participants a holistic understanding of the industry's evolving landscape,” the statement added.

The event also showcases 12 dedicated international pavilions featuring groundbreaking innovations from Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, North America, China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, and Taiwan.

This year’s ProPak Asia gathers 58,555 attendees from 75 countries to learn the processing and packaging of 1,800 exhibitors from 45 countries.

Among the key products of Northern Samar are coconut-based food products, handicrafts, bags, tablea (raw chocolate), taro (starchy root vegetable) chips, buko (young coconut) pie, pili (edible seeds) nuts, atsara (pickled green papaya appetizer), camote (sweet potato) candy, and processed aquatic products.
