DAVAO CITY – At least 19 police station commanders were relieved from their posts effective Monday, the Police Regional Office in Davao Region (PRO-11) said.

In a statement, PRO-11 spokesperson Maj. Catherine Dela Rey said the relief came after the directive issued by Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre, the PRO-11 regional director.

“The move is part of the duty or work of the regional director to assign or reassign officers,” Dela Rey said.

She said officers from the PRO-11 departments and police provincial offices replaced the relieved officers.

In May this year, 35 officers of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), including former DCPO chief Col. Richard Bad-ang, were relieved from their posts.

Of the 35 relieved DCPO personnel, six were station commanders, five deputy commanders, 23 police non-commissioned officers (PNCOs), and Bad-ang.

They were assigned to the headquarters of the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Section.

The Police Regional Office-Regional Internal Affairs Service has recommended the relief of the 35 DCPO personnel following an investigation into the deaths of seven individuals during anti-illegal drug operations from March 23 to 26. (PNA)
