MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday announced the implementation of adjustments to the rice subsidy of uniformed officers this year.

In a statement, PNP Public Information Office chief Col. Jean Fajardo said a total of PHP100 would be collected from each officer for the months of May and June, representing the excess amount in the rice subsidy granted in January and February.

"It is important to note that while the previous fiscal directive set the rice subsidy rate at PHP700.00 for FY (Financial Year) 2023 and subsequent years, the newly approved Fiscal Directive No. 2024-03 has reverted the rice subsidy to PHP650.00 per month for FY 2024," she said.

Under Special Provision No. 9 of the 2024 General Appropriations Act, the grant of rice allowance for police officers has an allocation of PHP1.69 billion.

This subsidy is intended to provide each uniformed officer with 20 kilos of rice or an equivalent amount of PHP650 per month.

“We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all PNP personnel as we work to ensure the proper implementation of this subsidy in accordance with the approved fiscal directives,” Fajardo said. (PNA)
