Weather disturbances damage on agri, infra now over P6.3B

MANILA – The estimated damage to agriculture and infrastructure due to the effects of the southwest monsoon and Typhoons Butchoy and Carina have reached over PHP6.3 billion, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) bared in its latest situational report Thursday.

It said damage to agriculture was placed at PHP2.039 billion and these were incurred in Regions 1, 2, 3, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Regions 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

Meanwhile, infrastructure damage totaled PHP4.31 billion in Regions 1, 2, 3, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Regions 8, 10,11, 12, BARMM and the CAR.

Houses damaged were placed at 8,577 and these were incurred in Regions 1, 2, 3, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Regions 5, 6, 7,9, 10, 11, 12, Caraga, BARMM and the CAR.

The number of reported dead remained at 48 with only 14 confirmed as of posting.

Meanwhile, those affected are placed at 1,715,194 families in 17 regions. (PNA)
