MANILA – De La Salle University will face Ateneo de Manila University in the main game of the UAAP Esports VALORANT competition on Tuesday at the Hyundai Hall in Areté inside the Ateneo campus.

The La Salle-Ateneo showdown is set at 5:30 p.m.

Far Eastern University and Adamson University clash at 11:30 a.m. followed by the match between University of the Philippines (UP)and National University (NU) at 1:30 p.m., while University of the East (UE) and University of Santo Tomas square off at 3:30 p.m.

La Salle, FEU, Adamson and Ateneo are in Group A while UST, UP, NU and UE are in Group B.

Xavier Juan brings his expertise to La Salle as coach of five-time champion Viridis Arcus Esports. He has made waves in the professional scene with Oasis Gaming, which recently won the Predator League Philippines.

"On average, we trained six hours a day. We have the best mechanics and raw talent among the other teams. Coming into the tournament, the real enemy would be ourselves," said Juan, the former team captain of Viridis Arcus Esports.

Each group will play in a single-round robin best-of-two series, where a 2-0 win earns three points, a 1-1 series draw earns one point, and a 0-2 loss earns no points. The top two teams from each group will advance to the crossover semifinals.

Meanwhile, the Esports NBA2K will also start on Tuesday with 28 matches at the Doreen Fernandez Black Box at Arete, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Each school will send two players to join the NBA2K tournament.

The 16-player field is divided into two groups of eight, competing in a single-round robin best-of-one match. The top two from each group will advance to the semifinals. (PNA)
