Crossovers beat Thunderbelles, gain PVL q’finals

MANILA – Import Katherine Bell led Chery Tiggo past ZUS Coffee, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19, and to the quarterfinals in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Saturday.

Bell delivered 28 points on 24 attacks and four blocks as the Crossovers improved to 5-2.

Akari (7-0), Cignal (6-1) and PLDT (5-1) have also secured their seats in the knockout phase.

“I’m so proud of the team. I admire their attitude and motivation to bounce back. They really worked hard,” Bell said after the one hour and 12-minute match.

Mylene Paat chipped in 11 points, Princess Anne Robles had seven, while Czarina Grace Carandang, Seth Marione Rodriguez, and Ponggay Gaston added four points each for the Crossovers, who rebounded from a 16-25, 11-25, 25-23, 25-19, 12-15 loss to the Choco Mucho Flying Titans on Tuesday.

“Even though we won, there are still many adjustments to be made. We’ll review our plays for the quarters,” Chery Tiggo coach Kungfu Reyes said.

Chery Tiggo's last game is against Petro Gazz on Thursday.

Asaka Tamaru finished with 12 points for winless ZUS Coffee (0-7).

Michelle Gamit made eight attacks and one block nine, Sharya Ancheta added five points, including two blocks, while Gayle Pascual and Dolly Verzosa had four points apiece. (PNA)
