MANILA – Fair weather with isolated rain showers is seen to prevail over most parts of the archipelago, while a low-pressure area (LPA) is not expected to develop into a cyclone, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

The LPA, last tracked 1,030 east-northeast of northern Luzon, has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Rhea Torres said.

"We don't expect it to have a direct effect on any part of the country since it is far," Torres added.

The southwest monsoon or "habagat," however, will bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides.

Torres said the rest of the country could experience warm weather at noon, and isolated rain showers are likely due to localized thunderstorms.

The whole archipelago will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
