MANILA – The Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) is scheduled to begin partial operability by the last quarter of 2025, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Wednesday.

During the House deliberations on the DOTr’s budget, DOTr Undersecretary Jeremy Regino said the North Avenue Station up to Quirino Station of the MRT-7 will be up and running by the said period next year.

On the other hand, the San Jose Station in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan could be operational by 2027 at the earliest.

“Yung San Jose Station ang best case scenario po natin is 2027 (For the San Jose Station our best-case scenario is by 2027). We’ll extend to 2028 on a worst-case scenario,” Regino said.

The MRT-7 is a 22-kilometer rail service that consists of 14 stations, namely Quezon North Avenue Joint Station, Quezon Memorial Circle, University Avenue, Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, Batasan, Manggahan, Doña Carmen, Regalado, Mindanao Avenue, Quirino, Sacred Heart, Tala, and San Jose del Monte.

Once in full operation, the MRT-7 reduces travel time from Quezon City to San Jose del Monte in Bulacan to 35 minutes.

It is expected to carry up to 300,000 passengers in its first year of operation. (PNA)
