CALAMBA CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the concreting of a 1.22-km. section of the Quezon Industrial Highway in Barangay Mayao Parada, Lucena City, which would alleviate traffic congestion on key national roads.

DPWH-Quezon 2nd District information officer, engineer Evaresto C. Malones, confirmed the project's timely completion.

“This road will facilitate easier and faster access between the agri-industrial zones of Batangas province and the agricultural lands of Quezon province,” Malones said in a phone interview Friday.

The PHP93.6 million project was funded through the 2023 General Appropriations Act under the Convergence and Special Support Program-SIPAG-Access Roads and Bridges.

The new road segment is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on major routes, including Daang Maharlika, Manila South Road Old Route, Quezon Eco-Tourism Road, and Lucena-Dalahican Port Roads.

Malones noted that the road would also improve access for travelers and freight moving to the islands of Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan (Mimaropa) through the nearby Dalahican and Talao-Talao ports.

Additional road projects are set to be inaugurated by the end of the year, he added. (PNA)
