ILOILO CITY–The Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development (DHSUD) in Western Visayas (Region 6) has beefed up its strategies to encourage partnerships with more local government units, developers, and contractors for the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program.

“We are now into massive marketing of our program. It has been almost three years; we are a bit slow at the start, although Region 6 is doing better than other regions. The very purpose of our stakeholders forum is to invite LGUs and our developer-partners to participate in this program so we can build more houses,” said DHSUD regional director Eva Maria Marfil in an interview on Wednesday.

She said they started with their stakeholders’ forum in Negros Occidental on Sept. 17-18, and Sept. 23 in Aklan, Sept. 24 in Antique,  this Wednesday in Capiz, Guimaras, and 22 local government units of Iloilo on Thursday, and the remaining LGUs of Iloilo province on Friday.

Developers and contractors from Panay and Guimaras will participate in the Sept. 30 forum.

During the forum, participants were introduced to the 4PH program, including the legal bases, the interest subsidy of DHSUD, technical and documentary requirements, the roles of the stakeholders, targeted beneficiaries, and the current 4PH projects in Western Visayas.

Government Financial Institution (GFIs) representatives, including the Pag-IBIG Fund, Landbank of the Philippines, and the Development Bank of the Philippines, talked about loan opportunities to finance the prospected projects.

The Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH), a flagship housing program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., aimed at providing opportunities to the urban poor, informal settler families,  informal sectors, minimum wage earners, government employees, overseas Filipino workers, and even drives of public utility vehicles to have decent houses.

In Western Visayas, 30 projects are underway; 29 are in various stages, while one is already in the production stage. (PNA)
