BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development-Cordillera Administrative Region (DHSUD-CAR) has released around PHP280 million worth of assistance to families whose houses were damaged by calamities since 2022.

DHSUD-CAR regional director Antonette Anaban said 26,000 households have totally damaged houses during an earthquake in 2022.

“We released PHP272 million for households in Abra and Mountain Province,” she said in a phone interview on Wednesday.

Anaban said pay-outs have started for those living in Lagangilang and San Isidro in Abra.

DHSUD’s rental subsidy and financial assistance program also benefited 581 residents affected by Severe Tropical Storm Egay in July 2023.

The agency released PHP5.8 million worth of assistance and distributed modular tents and shelter-grade tarpaulins to households in evacuation centers.

It also extended help to residents whose houses were affected by Super Typhoon Carina, Severe Tropical Storm Enteng and the southwest monsoon.
