C. Luzon cops nab 135 wanted persons in weeklong anti-crime drive

MANILA – Members of the Police Regional Office 3 (Central Luzon) arrested 135 persons wanted for various charges in operations from Sept. 21 to 27.

In a statement on Monday, outgoing PRO-3 chief Brig. Jose Hidalgo said among those apprehended were 17 most wanted persons and 118 others with standing arrest warrants.

These include individuals facing charges for heinous crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, and drug-related offenses.

Hidalgo also called on the public to remain cooperative and vigilant in reporting criminal activities.

"This accomplishment is a testament to our commitment to apprehend criminals and uphold the law, ensuring that justice is served for all victims of crime," he said, noting that the arrests were part of PRO-3's broader effort to ensure peace and order throughout Central Luzon.

Hidalgo, who will reach the mandatory retirement age of 56 on Oct. 1, will be replaced by outgoing Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan.

SPD nabs 72 wanted persons in a day

Meanwhile, the Southern Police District (SPD) said 72 wanted persons were arrested in single-day operations on Sept. 27.

These operations resulted in the arrest of six individuals classified as Top Most Wanted Persons (TMWP), 35 categorized as Most Wanted Persons (MWP), and 31 classified as Other Wanted Persons (OWP).

“Our relentless efforts are a testament to the SPD’s commitment to maintaining law and order. By apprehending these individuals, we are taking significant steps toward ensuring a safer community for all. This aligns with the PNP's mission to create a safer and more secure Philippines,” Yang said in a statement.

The SPD covers the cities of Makati, Pasay, Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa, as well as the municipality of Pateros. (PNA)
