BAGUIO CITY – Two Aboitiz group companies reigned in the regional Gawad Kalikasan at Kalusugan (GKK) and will be feted in the national search for advancing workers’ health and environment protection.

These are SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet Inc.- Binga Hydroelectric Power Plant (BHEPP) and SN Aboitiz Power Benguet Inc. - Ambuklao Hydroelectric Power Plant (AHEPP).

Engineer Jose Maria Batino, executive director of the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), in a message delivered by Evelyn Tandayu of the Environment Control Division, said the companies’ efforts to join the regional search are already enough to show their commitment to give value to their employees’ welfare and rights.

He said the winners will be judged on the national levels in the coming days, and winners of the national search will be qualified to be nominated to the ASEAN OSHNET OSH Excellence awards for the industry category.

Entering the power plants in Binga and Ambuklao, any person have to follow safety protocols that are given in a briefing. Safety shoes, hard hat, reflectorized vests and other safety gadgets are provided to all to ensure that no untoward incident occurs within the facility.

The GKK is an award given by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in recognition of the outstanding achievements of enterprises and individuals in implementing successful occupational safety and health (OSH) programs.

In a private message to the Philippine News Agency on Monday, Joseph Yu, president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP), said they are honored to receive the award.
