MANILA – Defending champion National University secured its second win at the expense of Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-15, 25-7, 25-13, in the 2024 Shakey’s Super League Collegiate Pre-season Championships at Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila on Friday.

Wing spiker Arah Panique had eight attacks and two aces as the Lady Bulldogs joined the Arellano University Lady Pirates on top of Pool A.

Opposite Alyssa Solomon and reigning Most Valuable Player Mhicaela Belen chipped in seven points while middle blocker Minierva Maaya added six points, including two aces.

“The challenge now is we still have many errors so we have to work on what we lack and what we need to improve,” Panique, a member of Alas Pilipinas, said after the one hour and 17-minute match.

Wing spiker Alessandra Razonable led EAC (0-2) with five points, followed by Erica Maye Bodonal with four points.

Meanwhile, Far Eastern University (2-0) will try to sweep Pool D and secure a playoff seat against Adamson University (1-0) at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

In other matches, Arellano seeks its third win against Ateneo de Manila University (1-1) at 11:30 a.m. while winless San Beda University (0-2) and EAC will square off at 2 p.m. in Pool A. (PNA)
