Police operation nets 3 suspects, over P3-M shabu in Albay town

LEGAZPI CITY – Over PHP3 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in a buy-bust operation in an Albay town on Friday morning, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-5 (Bicol) said.

In a report, Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO-5 spokesperson, said a total of 350 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP2.38 million and 130 grams of cocaine with a street value of PHP689,000 were recovered during the operation.

"The buy-bust operation Friday at Barangay Ubaliw, Polangui town in Albay resulted in the arrest of alias Jorge, alias Rod, and a minor, all residents of Bethlehem St, Barangay San Isidro, Paranaque City. They were arrested while selling 50 grams of shabu to a police undercover," she said.

Calubaquib said another 300 grams of shabu and 130 grams of cocaine were seized from the suspects during the body search conducted by the operatives.

"All seized pieces of evidence were marked and documented in the presence of a mandatory witness and brought to Polangui municipal police station for proper handling and disposition,” she said. "The minor involved will be transferred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to undergo the necessary legal procedures."

PRO5 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque commended the dedication and commitment of the teams involved and reaffirmed the Philippine National Police's unwavering commitment to combat the drug problem within the region. (PNA)
