MANILA – The weather bureau on Monday said the shear line and the northeast monsoon or "amihan" will bring rain showers over several parts of the country.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the shear line and the easterlies are forecast over Eastern Visayas, Capiz, Aklan, Iloilo, Bicol Region, and Romblon.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas may result in floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. bulletin.

Amihan will bring light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Quezon, and isolated light rains over the rest of Luzon.

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will continue to cause isolated rain showers over the rest of the country, PAGASA said.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters will prevail across Northern and Central Luzon, and the eastern section of Southern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina said no tropical cyclone is expected to develop or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this week.

Colder nights due to amihan are likely, especially in Luzon and the Visayas, he said.

The temperature in Baguio could reach 12 to 21°C, Tuguegarao 19 to 29°C, Tagaytay 20 to 29°C, Metro Manila 22 to 31°C.

Forecast temperature in Tacloban is 24 to 31 °C, and 25 to 30 °C in Cebu and Iloilo. (PNA)
